Kyle Busch is in his 20th full-time NASCAR Cup Series season and the beginning of his third with Richard Childress Racing. After winning three times in his first year with the two-car organization, the two-time champion went winless in 2024 and snapped his streak of winning at least one race a year at 19 consecutive seasons.
Last Sunday at Circuit of the Americas, Rowdy Nation had reason to believe the driver of the No. 8 could be ending his 59-race winless streak, leading a race-high 42 laps, including deep into the final stage. However, it wasn’t meant to be as his former Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell battled with him for multiple laps before eventually passing the RCR car and going onto victory. Busch finished fifth.
On Saturday during his qualifying lap at Phoenix, the Fox broadcast booth talked about the 39-year-old’s impressive run at COTA when Clint Bowyer made a prediction about the driver in 2025.
“He's going to put RCR in Victory Lane this year,” Bowyer suggested. “He's knocking on the door. His confidence is high. His attitude's right. He's got it set on kill. He's going to get it done. Watch.”

After finishing 34th in the season-opening race at Daytona, the future first-ballot Hall of Famer recorded a seventh at Atlanta before last week’s top-5 result at COTA. There's no denying he's been running well to start the 2025 campaign.
Interestingly, Busch also scored his first two top 10s of 2024 at Atlanta and COTA, albeit with a different schedule — the road course race was the sixth one on the schedule.
He's hoping the rest of this year doesn't replicate what happened last year. Based on Bowyer's prediction, it won't.
