You can always count on Dale Earnhardt Jr. to have a hot take about another NASCAR driver's hot take.
On the most recent episode of his Dale Jr. Download podcast, Dale Jr. examined some recent comments by Kyle Busch about composite bodies "ruining the art of racing."
Appearing on the Actions Detrimental podcast this week, Busch declared that everyone in NASCAR are "clowns" who "don't know how to freaking drive" because drivers are constantly running into everyone else.
“We’re all clowns,” Busch said. “We all don’t know how to freaking drive. It’s the composite bodies, that’s what it is. Everybody just runs into everybody and runs over everybody and hits everybody, hits the wall because we all just bank on the fact that the body’s just gonna pop back out and we’re going to be fine. These clowns would not have any idea how to drive a steel body car. You touch the wall, and it plows. Put ’em back in the Gen 4 cars.”
Well, Dale Jr. had some thoughts on those remarks.
The former NASCAR champion admitted that he likes drivers who are more aggressive. He said that while he has issues with some aggressive drivers at times, for the most part he wants more guys like Carson Hocevar and Ross Chastain in the field.
“I like that they race like (expletive),” Earnhardt said. “I know that we give Carson Hocevar a lot of (expletive), and at times, we gave Chastain some (expletive) and some other guys. But I want more of those guys in the field.
“I like the composite bodies because the drivers have been able to get more aggressive with them, in some cases, too aggressive. Particularly in the Xfinity Series, we destroy cars for no reason because they look at the bodies and stuff like just throwaways. They’re not really, they’re kind of expensive. I do miss being able to look at a car and see the damage.”
The controversy all started when Busch said "This car sucks so bad" after two incidents during the race at Kansas Speedway this past week.
Busch has had a lot more to say on the matter.
