Today, Bubba Wallace broke his 100-race winless streak and captured the Brickyard 400. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was impressed. Crew chief Charles Denike called a great race, and his driver had just enough fuel to get the job done today in the NASCAR Cup Series.

This is the first win for Bubba Wallace since Kansas in 2022. He was great all weekend long. From practice to qualifying to racing. It was a complete weekend for the 23 team.

After the finish, Dale Earnhardt Jr. praised Bubba and his crew chief. The strategy was great and it all worked out in the end. Even with two overtime restarts.

“Heck of a job by Bubba Wallace and his team to be able to do what they needed to do today,” Earnhardt said. “Changing that cutline and creating storylines, another dynamic result or finish to this Indy race here. And it’s so interesting to me, you think every year, these crew chiefs have upped the game.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. summed up his thoughts with a simple sentence. He had to give credit to the strategy call. “Just incredible, incredible strategy.”

Today was the last race this season that we are going to see Dale Jr. in the booth. His ten races are up after being with Amazon and TNT for the last two and a half months. It’s been great to have him back on Sundays, even for just a few races.

Of course, Steve Letarte is going to keep the party going. He joins NBC next week in Iowa to kick off their stretch of 14 races. It is going to be a wild finish to the season.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. gives advice to Bubba Wallace

During his career, Dale Earnhardt Jr. won a few Crown Jewels. He had a few big moments in his career. So, he knows what he wishes he would have done in those moments looking back, and what he did do, that he’s glad that he did in those moments.

Speaking to Bubba Wallace after the race, Dale Jr. gave him a bit of advice. It was a great gesture.

“I want to give you a piece of advice,” Earnhardt said. “You don’t really need any, but this is the best advice that I think I got in moments like this: Enjoy every second of this.”

With no guarantees in NASCAR, wins are special. To win a Crown Jewel race is even more special.

“The rest of this, all the media you’re going to do after this moment, all the other moments you’re going to have with your family and friends, your team,” Earnhardt said. “Whatever party you may have tonight. Enjoy it. Soak it all in. You never do this again for the first time. And you also have, you’re locked into the playoffs and you can let all of that pressure roll off your back. I know what that’s like. Great feeling not having that pressure on you going into the next handful of races.”
