Dale Earnhardt Jr. had an interesting question about the Dawsonville Poll Room’s si-reen after Chase Elliott won the NASCAR Cup Series race in Atlanta this past weekend. On Dale Jr. Download, Earnhardt reacted to Elliott winning the race at his home track and asked about the pronunciation of si-reen.

“Chase Elliott, with a lot of help from his teammate [Alex] Bowman, was able to get the win,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. said. Big win for Chase in Georgia. Got a tweet from the Atlanta Braves of congratulations. That’s a big deal. That had to make Chase feel pretty good.

“The pool hall rang the siren. Now the pool hall will tell you that it’s a si-reen. I want to be educated on this because I would always have called it the siren, like the siren at the fire department or the siren of the police car. It’s a siren. …I never even heard of a si-reen. Where does that even come from? This is Georgia we’re talking about. But they’re adamant that you call it a si-reen.”

The Dawsonville Pool Room gets the si-reen going every time Chase Elliott wins a race. It has happened twice this season as Elliott won the race in Atlanta this past weekend and The Clash before the start of the season in February.

More on Chase Elliott and the Dawsonville Pool Room si-reen

The Dawsonville Pool Room is in the town square of Dawsonville, Georgia, and features memorabilia of Elliott and his father, NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott. According to the Dawsonville Pool Room’s official website, the si-reen tradition began when Bill won races.

This was the second time Chase Elliott has won a Cup Series race in Atlanta. The first happened in July 2022, and Elliott also won pole for the race. After the race on Saturday, Elliott spoke to reporters about where the win ranks in your career.

“It’s up there for sure. Just the whole thing. I talked about it a little bit. It’s always such a whirlwind from the time the race ends to the time I get in here,” Elliott said. “…But tonight was really special, I can tell you that. Just the way the stars aligned, everything that went into the deal. Having the Mills family here, a lot of people from NAPA, Genuine Parts, Kelley Blue Book, Coca-Cola. It’s not just home for me, it’s kind of home for the entire car. That’s a rare thing to share with your sponsors. It’s just a special deal.”
