Dale Earnhardt Jr. says new Netflix show is ‘better’ than any other NASCAR documentary

After watching the series before the general public, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is raving about NASCAR: Full Speed the new Netflix docuseries coming out January 30. The NASCAR Hall of Famer is saying that this series is better than anything like it before.

No matter what your favorite NASCAR documentary or show was growing up, Dale Jr. says Full Speed is better. Netflix spent a ton of time following drivers around from the track to home and everywhere in between.

On the Dale Jr. Download, Earnhardt talked about the series and the impact it had on him.

“The Netflix series is coming out the 30th,” Dale Jr. said on his podcast. “I’ve watched it and it’s better than anything that I’ve ever … Any of the stuff that I was a part of in my career that was sort of off track, on track documentary-style stuff, I’m telling you man, this is so good.”

That’s high praise from a driver who has seen all kinds of NASCAR productions over the years.

A lot of people are hoping that this new series will give NASCAR a boost in ratings and reach new fans. Even if it just gives current fans one of the best productions about the sport ever, according to Dale Jr., it will be good for the sport.

Will this be the new Drive to Survive? Probably not. But what it can be is the first Full Speed.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. optimistic about Netflix show

While Dale Earnhardt Jr. is generally optimistic about most things NASCAR, I think it is good he feels so strongly about this show. If this sport is going to live in the 21st century, then there needs to be shows and documentaries about it.

There comes a time when a brand has to go out and reach fans and not just expect fans to show up. NASCAR is trying to go out and grab those fans and, you could argue, that it is working with varying effects. Gen Z is apparently more into NASCAR than we could have hoped for.

Streaming is here to stay and NASCAR is finally getting in on the action. Netflix documentary and a six-race schedule on Amazon Prime this year will be huge for the sport.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. likes it, I think the rest of us will like it. As far as any overarching effects it may or may not have, we will have to wait and see. We could see the results as soon as the Daytona 500 ratings come out next month.
