Daniel Suarez set for ‘LA Clash double duty’ with NASCAR Mexico Series entry
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NASCAR unofficial season opener at the LA Colosseum will be an entirely different event. This year will feature the battle among the Cup drivers, and the NASCAR-Mexico series racers will battle it out on the 0.25-mile track. It is part of a cross-promotion initiative by NASCAR, as it has stakes in both championships.

The event will mark the return of Mexico’s best-ever NASCAR driver, Daniel Suarez, to his racing roots as he is set to race in the NASCAR Mexico Series along with his Cup outing with Trackhouse. Suarez will drive his Quaker State-sponsored stock car for Jimme Morales. He was given the sole guest-driver seat available at the event.

Surez is over the moon as he gets the opportunity to return and race for the people who played a massive role in making him a premier division stock car racer. He thanked the sponsors and NASCAR for the chance after acknowledging the fact that he never imagined this would happen. Suarez also shared his hopes that more drivers from his country will make it to NASCAR.

I never thought I would have the opportunity to race in the Mexico Series again. There are a ton of people who helped me in my career still involved in the series so it will be cool to go back and race with them. NASCAR’s Mexico Series is a great place to learn and over time I think will start producing drivers who will come to America. I cannot thank Quaker State and NASCAR enough for making this opportunity possible. Suarez said via a statement.
