Daniel Suárez announced Tuesday he is leaving Trackhouse Racing after the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. Suárez and Trackhouse “mutually agreed to part ways,” the 33-year-old said in a statement.
“Trackhouse and I have mutually agreed to part ways at the end of the 2025 season. I’ve had some of the best years of my Cup Series career at Trackhouse. We had great successes as a team and I gained some incredible friends,” Suárez wrote on X. “We took a team nobody had even heard of in 2021 and in just a couple of years we were winning races and running upfront on a weekly basis.
“Just like the seasons in a year, sometimes things change and we have agreed to each go in our own direction. I wish Trackhouse nothing but the best, this 99 team will always be special to me. And like I always say, the best is ahead.”

Suárez’s future had been up in the air for some time, as he entered the 2025 campaign in a contract year. Further complicating matters was Trackhouse employing four drivers — Suárez, Ross Chastain, Shane van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch — and having three rides in Cup. The latter is on a developmental deal and currently excelling in the Xfinity Series.
Trackhouse owner Justin Marks was always going to have to make a tough decision. He opted to move on from Suárez and the expectation is that the 18-year-old Zilisch will replace him. Zilisch has a pair of wins in Xfinity and has three Cup starts under his belt this season as Trackhouse aims to get him experience in the Next Gen car. He finished 11th in this past Saturday’s race at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta.
Suárez became Trackhouse’s flagship driver when the team joined the Cup ranks in 2021. One year later, Chastain came aboard to drive the No. 1 car. Suárez has made the playoffs twice since joining Trackhouse. Chastain and van Gisbergen have both won a race this season and are playoff-bound. Suárez, meanwhile, sits 29th in the points standings. The Mexico native has tallied both of his Cup victories with Trackhouse.
“The role Daniel has played in the Trackhouse origin story and its first five years will remain a valued part of the company’s history forever,” Marks said. “His commitment, work ethic and dedication to the effort is one of the most impressive things I personally have seen in my career. We will forever be thankful and honored that Daniel chose to spend many incredible years with us. We are proud of his wins, his successes, the growth of his brand, and his emergence as a valuable athlete in America’s greatest motorsport.
“But, most of all, I’m proud of him as a friend. I’m truly excited to see what awaits him in the next chapter of his amazing career. We are grateful for the professionalism, effort and heart he’s brought to our organization.”
