Daniel Suárez clears the air surrounding Trackhouse departure

On Tuesday, Daniel Suárez announced in a statement that he and Trackhouse Racing would be parting ways after the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. He provided more clarity on Sirius XM Radio after the fact.

The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck compiled some of the most relevant comments and tweeted them on Tuesday afternoon. Suffice it to say, Suárez seems relatively at peace with the decision.

“I want to make sure that you guys and all the people listening (know) I’m not sad for this,” Suárez said. “This is just a new chapter. That’s all it is. … This is not a sad moment, it’s just a change.”

According to Gluck, Daniel Suárez said he doesn’t know exactly what’s next for him, but he’s approaching it with a smile on his face. He doesn’t want people to feel bad for him.

His time at Trackhouse was productive, though Suárez never quite found the consistency he was looking for. Still, there were some excellent highlights, including a win at the 2024 Ambetter Health 400 in Atlanta, an absolute masterclass of a race.

But the decision to split with Trackhouse was something in the works for a while. Daniel Suárez went more in depth.

“This is not something new for me,” he said. “I have known about this for awhile. It just happens to be official today. I’m actually a little bit relieved it’s already out and people know about it and we can talk about it and we can move forward with future plans.”

The decision was made official on Monday, Suárez said. Since then, he’s been on the phone constantly. He expects to race well to end the season.

Daniel Suárez noted he had lunch with the 99 team and “we vented out a little bit and cleared the air.” Per Gluck, Suárez said he feels the team is now hungry as ever.
