Denny Hamlin claims reigning NASCAR champion Ryan Blaney often ‘loses his brain over the radio’
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 Las Vegas Cup race witnessed the re-ignition of the beef between defending champion Ryan Blaney and Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain. The aggressive defense from the Team Penske driver produced some interesting moments on the track.

Blaney is infamous for his outburst over the team radio and the years have produced some hilarious moments. According to three times Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin, the recent outburst involving Blaney and Chastain is normal.

While talking about the Blaney-Chastain incident, he pointed out that Blaney often goes off on the radio and there is nothing to read into this incident, as it is quite a usual occurrence during race days.

I think Blaney goes off the deep end most weeks. Like, this is just who he is. He just loses his brain over the radio. It’s one thing to just maybe yell into your helmet, or chew the steering wheel when you’re really upset, but he just clicks the button and just goes haywire. So I wouldn’t read up into it too much. But I guess he was talking s— about Chastain or something. Hamiln said via Action Detrimental

Ross Chastain heated things up with Phoenix’s jibe

The beef became a headline after Ross Chastain’s post-race comments. The No:1 Chevy driver took a dig at the No:12 Ford driver, reminding him of the 2023 Championship-4 race.

Chastain’s impressive defense helped him beat Blaney who was determined to win the championship. The tension was so high, that Blaney was showing his middle finger to Chastain while racing.

Going into next weekend at Phoenix, the duo would be once again in the fight as they have machinery capable of securing race wins every week. It would be interesting to see the outcome of the beef.
