Denny Hamlin believes there'll be fireworks at this weekend's NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway.
During the Cracker Barrel 400 last Sunday, Carson Hocevar drove into the back of Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s No. 47 Chevrolet on Lap 106. Stenhouse put Hocevar's antics on blast after his night was cut short.
"I’ve been in this sport a long time and if you make a mistake like that, you generally pick up the phone as quick as you can, especially if you feel bad about it," Stenhouse said. "If you don’t, you just roll on with it. No, I’ve not gotten a call from him. I’ve talked to his owner. Jeff Dickerson and I are super tight. I haven’t gotten a call from him, so to my point, he doesn’t really care about it, which is fine."
Hocevar reached out to Stenhouse on Wednesday to let him know that he feels bad, but that might not defuse the situation.
On this week's episode of his "Actions Detrimental" podcast, Hamlin predicted that Stenhouse will intentionally wreck Hocevar this Sunday.
"Ricky Stenhouse will absolutely wreck Carson Hocevar sometime in the near future. That’s just a fact. I would — I’d put this week’s salary on it. I’m not kidding you," Hamlin said, via On3. "You know, he ain’t going to punch him in the face, but he will absolutely wreck him, because Ricky’s that kind of guy that he’s going to feed into what people say."
Hamlin wasn't done putting Hocevar on high alert.
"He’s going to hear, 'Are you going to get him?' And you know, he’ll just suddenly — he’ll make sure you know, if you’re Carson, just know that it’s coming. So don’t be surprised," Hamlin continued. "It’s coming. There’s nothing I’m more confident of right now, other than Jordan having a baby, than Ricky wrecking Carson. I just feel as though that’s inevitable."
Hamlin later said that Hocevar hasn't done anything to wrong him. If that happens though, he won't hesitate to take action.
"Carson hasn’t done anything to me yet that has been egregious, but I guarantee you, I will get him if he does. I’m going to get him, because he has gotten a lot of people and they haven’t done anything about it," Hamlin said.
Sunday's race at Michigan will begin at 2 p.m. ET.
