Denny Hamlin hilariously signs fan’s forehead at Texas

Before the green flag fell today, Denny Hamlin obliged one NASCAR fan with a wild request – he signed the fan’s forehead. Just like Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights, Hamlin put his signature right on the front of a random guy’s head.

NASCAR fans are a rare breed. So, it’s not surprising to see someone ask a driver to sign a body part. Let’s just hope they aren’t getting the autograph to get it tattooed later.

Denny Hamlin appeared more than happy to make this fan’s wish come true. Check out the screenshot from Steven Taranto of CBS Sports.

Denny Hamlin is hoping he can find the speed of Ricky Bobby out on the track today. He started P8 and early on is feeling things out in his car. Carson Hocevar started on the pole. I am sure that he will give the field fits when they try to make a pass on him. He won’t give it up easily, that’s for sure.

If you can’t have fun at a NASCAR race, then you can’t have fun anywhere. The only problem is, the fun stopped for Hamlin very quickly after this. He pushed his luck a little too much this afternoon before the race.

Denny Hamlin throws horns down, car catches on fire

I am a superstitious sports fan. But by that, I mean I wear the same hat or a certain shirt when my favorite team plays. I also love taunting other fan bases. Watching my Kentucky Wildcats throwing an “L’s down” to the Louisville Cardinals – that’s the good stuff!

However, I fear that Denny Hamlin taunted the fates of superstition too much today. He went out during driver intros and threw horns down in front of the Texas crowd. Then, before you know it, he is having pit road penalties and even catching on fire.

Well, his car caught on fire. With a few laps left in the first stage, Hamlin started to fall off the pace. Then, smoke began to pour out of the car. Soon, flames were shooting out of the pipes and from underneath the car itself.

That’s it, folks. Denny Hamlin’s car caught on fire, and he’s done. It was scary for a moment as Hamlin kept driving as the black smoke filled the car. He was able to stop and get out of the car quickly with the help of the AMR Safety Team. Everyone did a great job reacting to the emergency.
