Although you wouldn’t know it by his performance at Texas Motor Speedway, Denny Hamlin’s 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season has been solid through the first 11 races. The 38th and last-place result in the Lone Star State last Sunday was not indicative of the performance of the No. 11 team this year.
Through the prior 10 races, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver had scored a pair of back-to-back wins at Martinsville and Darlington and four additional top-10 finishes, including three top fives at Phoenix (2nd), Homestead-Miami (5th) and Bristol (2nd).
Interestingly, it’s been a feast-or-famine scenario for much of the 2025 campaign. He’s earned the six top 10s but in the remaining five races he’s finished 21st or worse, including 21st at Circuit of the Americas and Talladega. He finished 24th in the season-opening Daytona 500 and 25th at Las Vegas. The JGR car doesn’t have any finishes in the teens.
While Hamlin is undoubtedly a first-ballot Hall of Famer, the fact that he hasn’t yet won a title always hangs over his head.
There’s been something else missing in his personal life for years. Engaged to longtime girlfriend Jordan Fish, the couple have a pair of daughters in Taylor and Molly. In February, Hamlin shared that the family would be welcoming a third child in June.
On Friday, the 44-year-old driver made a big reveal on his Instagram page with a video that played the Beatles song "Here Comes the Sun" and first showed the family standing in front of the house before shifting down to their footwear. The camera started with Hamlin’s Air Jordans then panned to his wife and the two girls’ shoes before revealing an empty pair of blue Air Jordans. It then wrapped up with another shot of the entire family and Jordan appropriately holding the Jordans over her tummy.
“Baby Hamlin is a …” he wrote.
The baby boy will be a welcome addition and, as anyone who's had a boy and a girl knows, a big change from the day they're born until they grow up and one day leave the house.
