While the Cup Series race at Dover is on hold due to weather, earlier today, Denny Hamlin was not happy with Ty Dillon. Of course, Dillon is battling John Hunter Nemechek in the NASCAR In-Season Tournament, and Hamlin was racing for the lead.

Denny Hamlin couldn’t get around Ty Dillon after a green flag pit cycle. He was trying to put Dillon down a lap. The 10 car was racing John Hunter Nemechek and trying to remain on the lead lap, or at least as the Lucky Dog.

During the rain delay, Hamlin was asked about Dillon. He kind of roasted the Kaulig driver in his comments.

“Yeah, I mean, he’s battling for 24th and to win his matchup again,” Hamlin said on TNT. “So, yeah, you know, I get it. That and the Lucky Dog and all that stuff. So, that’s just you know, me not thinking about his big picture. Which I really don’t care. Yeah, it all worked out but certainly it was kind of an inopportune time there, and it cost us the lead and then that spot. But you know, we got it back and no problem.”

Denny Hamlin is in control right now. When this race gets back to green, it will be a mad dash for the finish line.

Denny Hamlin ready to go for final 14 laps of Dover

During the delay, Hamlin also talked about the race itself. He is going to get a new firesuit since his is soaking wet from sweat. He opted not to use a cool suit.

“We’ll definitely go back and change the suit because I know that I want to feel like I’ve got fresh tires when I go out there for the last 15 laps, and I don’t know, we’ll see,” Hamlin said. “But, obviously, the Progressive Toyota’s been pretty strong all day.

“Top three car. Just, um, yeah, that unfortunate timing in there with that caution and certainly, you know, allowed the guys to have a little fresher tires. But it felt like we were holding them off there pretty solid, and felt like it was about to start stretching there at that point. We’ll finish this thing out as soon as we get it dry and go get this race.”

Denny Hamlin is ready to get going again. He wants to get this race going again so he can finish up what he started.
