NASCAR has officially released the Martinsville Schedule for this weekend’s tripleheader. The Craftsman, Xfinity, and Cup Series are preparing to take on the 0.526-mile track after eventful runs at Homestead-Miami. Here’s a brief of the events that unfolded at Homestead-Miami Speedway. After a bold return to Craftsman and Xfinity last weekend, the 2021 Cup Series Champion Kyle Larson was prepared for a sweep.
Larson started the weekend strong, winning the Baptist Health 200 for the truck series against Corey Heim. Heim swept stages 1 and 2 of the race but succumbed to mechanical issues in the last 20 laps, allowing Larson to steal his lead. The upset hit a sore spot for the TRICON driver after consecutive wins in Phoenix and Las Vegas. He’s eyeing redemption at this week’s Boys and Girls Club Blueridge 200, but he’s up for a challenge against Christian Eckes.
Eckes swept all three stages of the 2024 Martinsville Race to beat Ben Rhodes by 1.191 seconds. The Xfinity Series saw JR Motorsports Justin Allgaier notch his second consecutive win in overtime, breaking Larson’s sweep. Regarding the Cup Series, Kyle Larson made up for his Xfinity loss by beating Alex Bowman by 1.025 seconds to secure his 30 career win at the Straight Talk Wireless 400.
Larson is also expected to perform well this week, and having a strong history at Martinsville doesn’t hurt. In 2024, the Hendrick Motorsports driver finished second to teammate William Byron. Stay tuned for the action-packed weekend ahead to see if history will repeat itself. Here’s a complete breakdown of Martinsville’s weekend schedule, including where to watch.
