Homestead-Miami Speedway's revitalization continues with 2027 date announcement

After no longer being the host of NASCAR's championship weekend from 2020-25, there was a stigma around the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Sure, the 1.5-mile racetrack still produced great racing, as it has since its reconfiguration in 2002. But dwindling attendance at a facility that was beginning to lag behind others on the NASCAR schedule certainly blunted the allure of the south Florida track. Phoenix Raceway, which hosted the finale from 2020-25, doesn't produce a stellar racing product, but it's facilities and amenities are arguably tops in the sport.

What getting 2027 championship weekend means for Homestead

Homestead has long been known to be hosting the 2026 championship weekend, it's first time hosting the final race weekend of the NASCAR season since 2019. But with Tuesday's news that the venue will also host championship weekend in 2027 and undergoing a massive renovation project, the speedway seems to be returning to form.

It's not shocking that NASCAR decided to keep the finale at the same track in two consecutive years, but it's a huge win for the track. Now, fans who will experience the renovated facility this fall will have more motivation to return in 2027 while the track retains its luster as the site of NASCAR's finale.

Homestead-Miami Speedway's renovation totals $20 million. This year's races at the track are set for Nov. 6-8, with the 2027 dates being Nov. 12-14.
