The world of NCAA NIL deals is coming to NASCAR as JD Motorsports and Brennan Poole team up with University of Kansas athletes. When NASCAR returns to Kansas Speedway this postseason, there will be some Jay Hawks zipping around the track. This is a first-of-its-kind partnership to bring NIL to NASCAR.

BeONE Sports, the Mass St. Collective, and the University of Kansas Athletics are coming together to team up with JD Motorsports. Collegiate schemes in NASCAR are almost always awesome. Mascots and college logos just look great on the side of a car going 190+ MPH.

In the world of NIL, let’s hope we get more of these deals in the future. When it hits the track, there will be 11 student-athletes from the University of Kansas featured on Brennan Poole’s No. 6 JD Motorsports Chevy Camaro on September 9th.

This is the first NIL deal to make its way to NASCAR. I’m sure it won’t be the last. NASCAR operates in states that are obsessed with college athletics. Think about the things that could happen in Florida for the Daytona 500. When Atlanta has two dates on the calendar, Tennessee has multiple races a year it makes you think. Even Michigan would be a place NIL and NASCAR could come together.

While this is great for the athletes involved, even Brennan Poole is excited.

“I’m so excited to be a part of something that’s never been done before! I love Kansas and it’s going to be so cool to have the college athletes on the car and give them a ride in our fast race car!” the driver said in a press release.

JD Motorsports and Mass St. Collective come together

While there are a lot of strange NIL deals and people have issues with how it is done, this is perfect to me. This is what NIL should be about. Let’s get these athletes in front of new eyes, and build their brand and the university at the same time. NASCAR fans are loyal in many ways. To teams, drivers even the brands themselves.

If the Mass St. Collective and Kansas Athletics invest in NASCAR, fans will pay them back in a big way.

“Our goal at Mass St. Collective is to find new and unique instances where we can grow the brand of our KU student-athletes in new and meaningful ways through name, image and likeness.” says Dan Beckler, President of Mass St. Collective. “To partner with BeOne Sports and have 11 Jayhawks on a NASCAR Xfinity Series Race car is something that has never been done before, and it’s an exciting way to bring NIL and college athletes to the racing industry. Brand loyalty is the best among NASCAR fans, and we hope this car only adds to that. What makes this even more special is to debut the car in our home state at Kansas Speedway.”

September 9th Kansas Athletics hits the track at Kansas Speedway for The Kansas Lottery 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race. A first in NASCAR and a first in KIL.
