Jimmie Johnson shows off 2016 championship car to his daughters at NASCAR Hall of Fame
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

At this stage in his career, Jimmie Johnson has done it all. Now officially a NASCAR Hall of Famer, Johnson was feeling nostalgic recently. Seven-Time was able to show his daughters his final championship-winning car from 2016.

Jimmie Johnson has accomplished everything there is to accomplish in NASCAR. He is even still racing for his own Legacy Motor Club team. While his girls can see all of the work he is doing now, they were very young when he was still out winning championships.

At the NASCAR Hall of Fame exhibit in honor of Johnson, his 2016 championship car was sitting right there. Covered in confetti, Rick Hendrick never cleaned it before storing it away, Johnson takes his daughters through his old “office.”

This video below is great. We see Lydia and Genevieve leaning into the car and checking things out. From a bungee cord that was supposed to hold the car in gear (Jimmie never used it in 19 years) to a sneaky aero-cheat that got Johnson sent to the back of the field to start the race.

And maybe the best part, reminding his daughters he only led 1.5 laps of that race. He didn’t need to dominate that day, he just had to wait his time and strike when he had to.

Jimmie Johnson is a legend. He doesn’t need an introduction when he enters a room. What he has done in the world of NASCAR and motorsports as a whole speaks for itself. The fact he still has the competitive fire in him to keep racing is impressive.

Legacy Motor Club has made large strides in the offseason in terms of sponsorship additions. The swap to Toyota should also pay dividends. Could we see Johnson add his 84th career win this season?

Jimmie Johnson looking for more success after HOF induction

If Jimmie Johnson were to find victory lane at some point this season in the Cup Series, he would become the first Hall of Famer to win a race after being inducted. As a team owner, he has made moves in the offseason that have been major boosts to Legacy.

Erik Jones has a lot of talent. John Hunter Nemechek has reinvented himself mentally and on the track, to make his second Cup Series stint successful. Add in Matt Kenseth and Trevor Bayne as driver advisors and the addition of major sponsors like AdventHealth, Gearwrench, and Family Dollar/Dollar Tree and it starts to look like a team on the rise.

Toyota is putting its backing into Legacy and Jimmie Johson’s group of drivers. They will not be left to figure things out as they were last season with Chevy and perhaps even before that.

Jimmie Johnson has a ton of history and success. He’s won seven freaking championships. Still, there is more history and success for him to chase in this new chapter of his career.
