Jimmie Johnson will make his 700th NASCAR Cup Series start on Sunday, May 25, in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Carvana unveiled its stars and stripes paint scheme for the Memorial Day weekend race.
For this milestone start, Johnson’s No. 84 Toyota features his signature neon yellow numbers, a nod to his seven-time Championship-winning No. 48. As part of NASCAR’s “600 Miles of Remembrance,” the car will carry the name of 1st Lt. Matthew Robert Davis, USMC, a fallen service member selected in partnership with CarVets.
The wait is OVER.

We can’t wait to see this thing under the lights in Charlotte.

“This special throwback design celebrates Jimmie’s legendary NASCAR career,” said Ryan Keeton, Carvana co-founder and chief brand officer. “Reaching 700 starts is a remarkable milestone, and we’re proud to celebrate it alongside him. We’re excited to share this meaningful tribute with fans and honor Jimmie’s lasting legacy in the sport.”
Johnson, the Legacy Motor Club co-owner, will be making his 14th start for his race team. He finished third in this year’s Daytona 500 back in February. His P3 finish at Daytona is his only top-25 finish in a Legacy car. In 2024, Johnson had an average finish of 30.55 in his nine starts.
This one is special for Johnson. Charlotte is the site of his first career Cup start, which came in 2001. It was the beginning of one of the greatest careers of any driver across any discipline of motorsport. Johnson has compiled 83 wins, 233 top five finishes and 375 top 10 finishes. His seven Cup Championships are tied for the most all-time with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. Johnson won five Championships in a row from 2006-10, something no other driver has ever accomplished.
It’s possible this could be the 49-year-old’s final ride, though he hasn’t officially confirmed it. Nonetheless, it should be an emotional night for Johnson.
“To reach my 700th start at the very race and track where my Cup career began makes this moment incredibly special,” Johnson said. “It’s a full-circle journey, and to share it with fans on Memorial Day weekend while honoring a fallen service member adds even more meaning.”
