Joe Gibbs is one of the NFL's greatest head coaches of all time, and he's also a legend in NASCAR. His stock car team has won five Cup Series titles and four Xfinity series titles, and they've also won several big races including multiple Daytona 500s.
Gibbs and his family are keeping the legacy of their race team alive through Joe's grandson Ty, who drives the No. 54 car in the Cup Series.
He's currently joined by Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell, along with Chase Briscoe, who is set to replace a retiring Martin Truex Jr. next season.
JGR has been a force on the track, but they're doing great work off the track as well.
Heather Gibbs - Joe's daughter-in-law and Ty's mother - is a co-owner of the team, and she recently revealed some philanthropic efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Helene.
Gibbs has partnered with EmergencyRV to provide shelters for families in need after the hurricane. The company provides displaced families with temporary and emergency housing after disasters, and Gibbs' effort to help one family was chronicled in a profile on Fox Weather.
Many NASCAR teams are based in North Carolina, and they've helped to assist those who were hit hard by the hurricane in the state and other surrounding areas.
Relief drives were held at certain tracks around the state, and drivers personally donated time, effort and money to help families rebuild.
Former driver Greg Biffle personally helicoptered into affected areas to bring aid and help those who were stranded in flooding and debris. The NASCAR Foundation pledged $150,000 to relief efforts, and urged fans to do the same by donating to the American Red Cross.
As parts of North Carolina and other states in the south continue to rebuild after the storm, the NASCAR world is doing its part to help their neighbors and other members of the community.
Others around the sports world have also helped in the wake of last year's devastating storms, as areas all around the southern United States were affected by the widespread devastation.
As families continue to put the pieces back together, the generosity of those like Gibbs and others has been appreciated.
