Poor Josh Berry can’t catch a break on the short tracks this year. He was once again disqualified after inspection. The Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National Motorsports Park draws in great drivers. This race had a little NASCAR flavor with Berry in the field.

Doug Barnes, Josh Berry, and Lee Pulliam gave the fans a show in the Thanksgiving Classic. Just a great race overall. Pulliam, racing for JR Motorsports, had a bad-fast No. 88 car. He drove to the front multiple times, but had to ultimately settle for P3. That was, until inspection.

Berry’s team protested parts that were on Barnes’ car. In return, Barnes protested the car of Berry. In the end, it was Berry who paid with a DQ and a disappointing end to what should have been a fun night at the track.

Earlier this year, Josh Berry was disqualified after winning at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. He finds himself on the wrong side of inspection once again in the Thanksgiving Classic. Keelan Harvick was also in the Late Model Stock race. He qualified P6, but ran into issues with his pit strategy. Still, another solid showing from the young Harvick.

In the short track scene, Josh Berry is well-known. That is how he made a name for himself, and those talents are exactly why he is at Wood Brothers Racing right now. Any time you see Berry in a late model, it’s worth watching. Unforutnately, things didn’t end how Berry wanted them to end this time around.

Josh Berry showed he can win at Wood Brothers Racing

Thanks to Josh Berry and his win at Las Vegas early in the NASCAR season, the Wood Brothers have been a playoff team for two years in a row now. That does great things for their end-of-the-season finish and the money they are awarded by NASCAR.

With the alliance with Team Penske, the Wood Brothers are able to put great cars on the track at times. Berry was really solid in spurts this year. He had troubles with DNFs, 9 in total this year, but when he was on, he was a top-10 driver. Races at Phoenix, Kansas, Richmond, New Hampshire, and Martinsville showed he was ready to step up to the plate when he had the right car and speed.

Having Berry racing in these offseason events is great. It feels like there are many drivers in NASCAR who are trying to line up in these big Fall and Winter races. From the Thanksgiving Classic to the Bill Bigley Sr. Memorial to the Snowball Derby. There are NASCAR drivers in action in the upcoming days and weeks.

A rough end to the night for Josh Berry. Hopefully, he comes back stronger for the next one. He’s always going to be in the mix when it comes to these late model races.
