Josh Williams ‘looking forward’ to driving for Kaulig Racing in 2024

Kaulig Racing made another surprising decision for the 2024 season as they announced the signing of Josh Williams. Williams is moving from the DGM Racing No. 92 to Kauligs No. 11 car to fill in Daniel Hemric’s old seat as Hemric goes Cup racing. A big upgrade for the NASCAR Xfinity Series driver.

Throughout his career, Josh Williams has done things his own way. Which happens to be pretty old school. He first garnered attention driving his own equipment in the ARCA Menards Series.

Williams is one of the most respected drivers in the Xfinity garage. He got to talk about his new opportunity on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio this afternoon.

“We started having just small conversations in the middle of the year last year just trying to see where we needed to be and the best way to go about it,” Williams said of the Kaulig courtship. “Made sure that we were a fit, you know, for our partners as well. Kaulig’s got a great program going on, a lot of cool things, really great people. We felt like I would be a good fit over there and we just kept the conversations alive.

“Put things together on our side that we needed to do to make this all possible and we finally got it finalized here a couple of months ago and got everything ready to rip and man I tell you what I’m super excited. It’s been a long road for me and it’s every racer’s dream to get an opportunity to go win races and run up front and get on the big stage.”

For Josh Williams, this is a major career move.

Josh Williams gets his big break

In the age of young, well-funded drivers and complaints of nepotism in motorsports, you still have these drivers who grind it out. Josh Berry comes to mind. Josh Williams is very much in that same mold.

When asked on SiriusXM if this was his big opportunity, Williams confirmed it definitely is his big break. In fact, he’s got his eyes on the No. 16 or 31 Cup car in the future.

“I believe so, I believe so,” Williams said. “You know at Kaulig you have the opportunity to grow. I mean they’ve got a Cup program that’s ran up front and been successful. The Cup Series is super super hard and they’ve won races. That’s a huge accomplishment. This is kind of like a home. There’s a place to move forward and progress in my career, and I’m looking forward to that opportunity.”

With aspirations even beyond the Xfinity Series, Josh Williams is going #TrophyHunting, as Kaulig Racing likes to say. Nothing is guaranteed, but seeing Williams win an Xfinity race would be one of the coolest moments in the sport in some time.

If he can take DGM Racing to the top 10, surely he can at least fight for wins at Kaulig.
