Katherine Legge's NASCAR Cup Series debut didn't go as planned on Sunday, but the 44-year-old from Guildford, England, still ran a respectable race.
After spinning on Lap 4, Legge kept her No. 78 Chevrolet under control for the rest of her afternoon — until lap 216, where she got loose on the exit of turn 2 and spun. After Daniel Suarez hit Legge head-on, her car was too damaged to continue. The DNF resulted in a 30th-place finish.
"We made some changes to the car overnight, and they were awful," Legge told Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass regarding the poor handling of her car. "I was hanging on to it late in the first stint, it was so loose. We kept making adjustments and making it way more stable for me."
"I think there's a lot of positives to take from it," she added. "Obviously, there were mistakes made, but I learned so much and hopefully, I get to come back and do it again."

It's unknown whether or not Legge will have another Cup Series opportunity in the near future, but if she does get the chance to compete in another race, she'll go into it with a weekend's worth of experience under her belt.
