Connor Zilisch is undoubtedly one of the most exciting drivers in NASCAR. The Trackhouse Racing star has continued to impress the field with his results. The 19-year-even emerged victorious in the Xfinity race at Daytona last weekend. Now, NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick has reckoned that Zilisch is one of the most talented drivers in the sport’s recent history.

The Chevrolet star is a passionate NASCAR racer. Connor Zilisch has earned a reputation of pushing himself to the limit to get results. Albeit he also has some embarrassing incidents like falling off his car in Victory Lane at Watkins Glen. Nevertheless, he has secured a full-time Cup seat at Trackhouse, replacing Daniel Suarez.

Kevin Harvick made it clear that racing full-time in the Cup Series was far different than the Xfinity Series. While Zilisch has made a few outings in the Cup in the past, he will need to adapt to a full-time campaign. Harvick insisted that there will be much more pressure on the 19-year-old’s shoulders, be it from the media or the sponsors, let alone the on-track competition.

Cup racing is a whole different animal… And you’ve got, you’ve got more pressure, more media, more money, more distractions. Um, and the competition is by far the most that you will ever have.

Kevin Harvick said on Happy Hour podcast.

The NASCAR legend asserted that Connor Zilish will face many challenges next year. However, the Trackhouse Racing star was suited to such hardship. Harvick reckoned that Zilisch was polished enough to adapt to any situation. So much so, he called him the most well-rounded youngster making it to the Cup Series since Jeff Gordon.

So you’re going to have a new team around him. You’re going to have a lot of challenges, but he is the most polished that that’s, that’s most well-rounded young driver that’s come to the Cup series in a long time since Jeff Gordon.

Kevin Harvick added.

Connor Zilish could’ve been F1’s ‘American star’

For decades, Formula 1 has been searching for its next big American star. The pinnacle of motorsport wants an American driver at the front of the field to expand in the US market. The last US driver to race in F1 was Alexander Rossi in 2015. According to Kevin Harvick, the situation could’ve been far different had Zilisch made it to the open-wheel championship.

Kevin Harvick recalled that back in Zilisch’s early days, he was focused on making it to Formula 1. The Trackhouse Racing driver didn’t even know much about NASCAR, as he raced in go-karts to one day make it to the pinnacle of motorsport. However, NASCAR managed to persuade the youngster to the world of stock cars and the rest is history. Though, F1 would certainly lament missing out on such a talented American star.

These kids had no interest. They didn’t even know what NASCAR was. (0:45) Um, they wanted to go down that, that F1 road. And, and so, um, luckily we steered him into, into NASCAR, but Conor Zilich, not only could he make it here, but he could have been the F1, American F1 driver to go over and, and be competitive in an F1 car… He was the, the most recent miss by Formula 1.

Kevin Harvick explained.

Certainly, Connor Zilisch is making his name in the world of racing. At the age of 19, his career is just beginning. The next season will be crucial for the Trackhouse Racing star as he competes in the premier NASCAR series for the entire season
