Denny Hamlin is unstoppable. Even at the age of 44, the JGR driver is turning heads in the Cup Series. Moreover, Hamlin also runs his own team, 23XI Racing alongside NBA legend Michael Jordan. The fact that the Toyota driver has managed to stay sharp so long in his career has made Kevin Harvick make a rather interesting remark surrounding the No. 11 driver.
Hamlin took his fourth victory of the season at Dover last weekend. The 44-year-old’s victory was a statement to critics, who have often hit out at the JGR driver. Denny Hamlin is known to have a passionate group of haters, similar to his similarly passionate group of fans.
Unfortunately, for the JGR star, it seems that things are only going well on the track. Denny Hamlin’s 23XI Racing has temporarily lost Cup charter rights amid a lawsuit against NASCAR. This has further created uncertainty over the future of the team and its drivers.
Kevin Harvick reckoned that everything seems to have become a challenge with Denny Hamlin, be it on or off-track. So much so, the 49-year-old claimed that everything around Hamlin was completely a disaster. Though, the JGR star seemed to have control when it came to the cockpit of the No. 11 Toyota.
Everything we do with Denny is about a challenge. It’s a complete disaster everywhere but the driver seat outside of that.
Kevin Harvick said on Happy Hour podcast.
Harvick pointed out that a lot is going wrong for the 44-year-old. The lawsuit has given setbacks to 23XI Racing. Moreover, his drivers, Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace have failed to live up to expectations this year. Kevin Harvick insisted that Denny Hamlin’s team was in a state of turmoil.
You look at the lawsuit, the 45 (Tyler Reddick) and the 23 (Bubba Wallace) not running great, everything around him is… Maybe it’s not a disaster, but it’s in turmoil.
Kevin Harvick explained.
On the surface, it seems that Denny Hamlin has a lot on his plate. The 44-year-old is undoubtedly in a difficult place in his life. Yet, he remains determined as ever to get everything back in order. While Hamlin has continued to silence critics on-track, he has even declared that the lawsuit will ‘expose’ everything once the trial begins in December.
Kevin Harvick pointed out that Hamlin’s professional situation is likely to continue like this till the trial begins. Till then, the JGR driver has the headache of a team without charters. Additionally, Hamlin recently became a father once again, this in-turn requires more attention to his personal life. Nevertheless, Harvick was adamant that the 44-year-old was never afraid of challenges. On the contrary, the 23XI Racing co-owner embraces turmoil and goes on to bounce back straight away.
Now you got to go all the way into the end of the year to have this December trail and everything with NASCAR. Your cars are unchartered, you’ve got a new baby at home that you’re trying to figure out how to balance life. But I think he does better when it’s like that. I think that it’s just those individual challenges of trying to say, ‘Okay, well, this is new. So this is intriguing.’
Kevin Harvick stated.
Certainly, Denny Hamlin is one of the strongest personalities in the field. The former Cup Series champion is always willing to push himself to the limit even during difficult situations. The coming months might be the biggest test in Hamlin’s career as he tries to manage his team’s lawsuit, his own campaign as well as his personal life. Though, fans continue to have faith that the 44-year-old will be able to get everything in order soon.
