Since he came into the sport, he’s been nothing but consistent. Kevin Harvick is making his 775th consecutive NASCAR Cup Series start today. Darlington Raceway has been home to some great moments, even in Harvick’s career. This one is going to add to that list.

Kevin Harvick came into the top echelon of NASCAR under unfortunate circumstances. From replacing the late, great Dale Earnhardt to becoming a champion in his own right. Now, retirement is around the corner. Before that happens, Harvick has one more dance to make with The Lady in Black.

Only trailing Ricky Rudd (788) and Jeff Gordon (797), Harvick is third all-time in this statistical category.

While Kevin Harvick has yet to win a race in 2023, he is in the NASCAR Playoffs. He is one of those drivers, even in his final season, that can go on a run at any time. Let’s not forget he won back-to-back races just a year ago.

With how strong the Ford group is this weekend, Harvick might have his best chance at a win this season tonight. He was P2 in the spring and since 2013 has only failed to make the top-10 once at Darlington, which was a DNF finish in last season’s playoffs.

Kevin Harvick, putting a close on The Closer’s career

In his illustrious career, Kevin Harvick has put up 60 wins in the Cup Series. He has 442 top-10s in his 803 starts in the series. Oh, and he also has 30 poles. He’s in that magical 30-30 club that Kurt Busch brought up in his retirement.

This last race at Darlington is going to mean a lot. However, he has to put aside his emotions and feelings and all that is wrapped up in a moment like this and put it aside. 500 miles separate him from possibly his final victory ever in the Cup Series. To do it at a time like this would be awesome.

Kevin Harvick is starting P7 in today’s race. That is much better than in the Goodyear 400 in the spring when he started P20 but still managed a runner-up finish.

Seven of the top-10 cars in qualifying were Ford Mustangs. Christopher Bell claimed the pole with Denny Hamlin and Tyler Reddick behind him. So, it will be a blue oval swarm behind those Toyotas to start the race. Perhaps Harvick’s track position will lead to something magical at Darlington tonight.
