With the Coca-Cola 600 in the rearview, Kevin Harvick is looking ahead to the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway. There’s a myriad of wheelmen who could use a win with something to prove in Tennessee this coming weekend.
Harvick singled out a couple. He’ll have his eyes on a couple of drivers this weekend, like Brad Keselowski, William Byron, Ross Chastain and Denny Hamlin.
“You’re starting to get to that point in the season where different agendas are taking place with every team,” Harvick stated, via the latest episode of Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour. “I think that the No. 6 (Brad Keselowski) being back on track is a huge moment. Being able to finish a race, get a top five, have the speed they’ve had for the last few weeks. I think that William Byron will be frustrated and motivated. Ross Chastain, he’s been to Victory Lane at this track. I think that those guys, and we’ve seen it happen with others, can take that momentum of what they’ve been doing — getting to Victory Lane, and take that to what would be considered Justin Mark’s hometown in Nashville and produce some results there.
“We’ve seen it with Christopher Bell, Denny Hamlin, some of these guys that got on a roll for two or three weeks and were able to capitalize on that. But I think that that No. 11 car (Hamlin) — he was in the mix, capable of being in contention to win that race last week, and they didn’t get the car full of fuel, ran out of gas, had to come to pit road, didn’t get the results. So, I think that those guys could be tough to beat if they continue to have the performance in their car like they’ve had.”
Alas, Keselowski is the one in the group not locked into the playoffs at the moment. He could sorely use a win, and his No. 6 Ford has been a bit faster over the past couple of weeks, opposed to the way it ran earlier in the season.
Byron, Chastain and Hamlin battled it out for the win during the Coca-Cola 600. Chastain reigned supreme, as Hamlin dealt with a fuel issue, and Byron couldn’t pull away in the end. As Harvick mentioned, Nashville is sort of a home base for Trackhouse, so a second win at the track for the Melon Man would be an awesome moment.
Regardless, each wheelman would be elated to get to Victory Lane in the Music City. We’ll find out later in the week if any of these four can get the job done, but Kevin Harvick’s attention will be squarely on Nashville Superspeedway when the Cup Series arrives.
