When it comes to Ty Gibbs, Kevin Harvick is a fan. However, he believes that the young Cup Series driver needs to clean a few things up. The NASCAR champion gave Gibbs a little advice recently.

This week, Kevin Harvick talked about Gibbs on his "Happy Hour" podcast. He likes what he has seen from the second-year Cup driver. There are things that he can improve upon, too.

For starters, Gibbs has to control his frustrations, at least on the radio.

“You guys know I’m on the Ty Gibbs train. … I think he’s going to win, he and his teammate, they got frustrated, he was frustrated with his teammate this weekend on the radio, Martin Truex,” Harvick explained on his podcast. “The way they were jerking those cars around, you could visibly see the frustration with the maneuvers they were doing with the car and the radio backed that up.

“Ty I think he’s got the speed and I think if he can just stay off the radio. I think it would do him a lot of favors if he could just learn to yell at himself, I think that would go a long way with him because then he wouldn’t have to answer all of the questions during the week about something he said. I think he’s got the speed, he’s got the racecraft, he’s just got to put it all together.

“It’s very similar to Blaney, right? We’ve heard him frustrated a lot on the radio before this year and he’s still going to be on the radio but it doesn’t seem like it’s as much right now with that frustration. So, being able to be frustrated every once in a while but not all the time is different once you get that confidence and once you get that win. I think he’s going to knock that win off at some point this year.”

Kevin Harvick sees the potential in Gibbs. He just has to control his emotions and success will come.

Kevin Harvick is right about Ty Gibbs

Regardless of his last name, Ty Gibbs is a damn good driver. He won the ARCA Menards Series championship in his first full-time season, then he took on the Xfinity Series right after. Guess what, he won that championship in his first full-time year as well.

Yes, he’s been in great equipment his entire life. Still, you can’t deny that he has gotten the most out of that equipment. Even in that equipment, he has impressed former champions such as Kevin Harvick.

Here is a little fun fact for you, Gibbs is great at Phoenix. Outside of his Cup Series starts there, Gibbs has done very well at the track. He has three ARCA wins at Phoenix including a runner-up finish and P3 result. In Xfinity, Gibbs has finishes of P2, P6, and P1.

While he has yet to get that same success at Phoenix in Cup, Kevin Harvick is onto something. Ty Gibbs will win a race this year, so why not this Sunday at a track he has won on multiple times?
