Kevin Harvick slams race fans over constant criticism of Fox’s NASCAR coverage

The introduction of the Next-Gen cars made NASCAR more exciting with more closer battles and incident occurring left and right. This puts broadcaster’s, Fox and NBC, in a tough situation as they were able to cover it properly as fans want. Fox has been the most criticised off the two, some of those are warranted, over missing important moments on the track.

Lats year Fox Sports announced the signing of 2014 NASCAR Cup champion Kevin Harvick as a new broadcaster who would start from 2024 season. One of the motives behind the decision was to make their coverage more engaging and comprehensive. While the decision can be considered fruitful so far, it still hasn’t stopped the criticism from fans.

Now the future Hall of Famer has addressed the criticism via his podcast Happy Hours and given his verdict. He defended Fox by pointing out that it is impossible to cover everything that is happening on the track during a race. Harvick also asserted that they have been covering everything that is happening at the top consistently.

My favorite thing that people don’t understand is they think we can cover every story. It’s impossible to cover every story. I promise you. We cover what’s happening in the front a lot. Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hours podcast.

The ex-SHR driver also addressed the controversies surrounding last weeks race at Martinsville where Fox didn’t broadcast the late lap incident between Austin Cindric and Justin Haley. Harvick reminded the critics that it was Willaim Byron, one of the prominent racers who had won the race in a special night for HMS and hence they deserved more time on the air at the moment.

I saw somebody mad at us on Twitter because we didn’t show whatever happened at the end (of Martinsville) with Justin Haley and Austin Cindric racing for 25th. And it’s like, ‘Well, we got a pretty prominent car leading the race, won the race, interviews, everything. It happens — bang, bang, bang. Wish we could show everything, but we can’t. Kevin Harvick said.

The veteran racer has made some good points regarding why Fox hasn’t been able to cover everything that is happening on the track. At the same time the broadcaster has also needs to listen to the fans as well and has make better use of the resources they have to cover NASCAR better.
