Kurt Busch is in town at Pocono Raceway for this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series event. On Saturday, he joined Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of practice and qualifying to dish on his brother, two-time champion Kyle Busch.

The elder Busch delivered some interesting tidbits regarding his relationship with his brother. Kurt Busch tried to make sense of Kyle Busch’s struggles over the last season-and-a-half at Richard Childress Racing, while also highlighting what he’s been doing for his nephew’s racing career in the young Brexton Busch.

“All the time,” Kurt Busch responded, regarding how often he and his brother talk racing. “I mean, this past week, there was a Legends car opportunity for my nephew, his son, Brexton, to race in Northern California, when they’re out there at the Sonoma track. So, I was trying to help line that up for them. You know, whether it’s decals or sponsorship, or even a corporation. If there’s a chance to help Brexton’s career move forward, those are things that I’m doing behind the scenes. But not all that much. I mean, Kyle’s got it under control.

“Yeah, I’m seeing the slump from the No. 8 car and the No. 3 car this year, but those things happen. I mean, you’re on top of your game one year, you come back to the track next year and you’re like, ‘Why am I P20 on the board. It happens.”

As you can tell, Kurt Busch doesn’t seem too worried about his brother’s winless-streak. It’s been over two years since the No. 8 Chevrolet has gone to Victory Lane though, which has some wondering if the once-great wheelman has seen better days.

That last win for Kyle Busch came back on June 4, 2023 at World Wide Technology Raceway. At the time, he seemed on top of the world, winning multiple races during his debut season. He’s come close since, namely this season’s trip to COTA or last season’s last-lap heartbreak at Daytona, but he hasn’t been able to close the deal.

Still, Kurt Busch has immense confidence in his younger brother, and he believes Kyle Busch still has what it takes to win in the Cup Series. The RCR wheelman has won at Pocono in the past, as recently as 2021. Perhaps this weekend’s trip to Pennsylvania, with his brother watching, will be what he needs to get back to Victory Lane.
