Kyle Busch announces 5-race schedule in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, sponsor, starting at Atlanta

Spire Motorsports has announced the five-race schedule Kyle Busch will run in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series this season.

His first race behind the wheel of the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado will come in this Saturday’s Fr8 208 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Atlanta race will be Busch’s first start at a superspeedway-style track in a lower series event since the Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway in 2015, when he sustained a compound break of his right leg and a fracture of his left foot.

Busch’s full 2024 Truck Series schedule is as follows:

• Atlanta Motor Speedway – 02/24
• Las Vegas Motor Speedway – 03/01
• Bristol Motor Speedway – 03/16
• Texas Motor Speedway – 04/12
• Darlington Raceway – 05/10

Group 1001 will serve as Busch’s primary sponsor at Atlanta this Saturday and at Las Vegas the following weekend.

“Even before I was an owner, I always enjoyed racing in the Truck Series, so I’m thankful to Jeff [Dickerson], T.J. [Puchyr] and everyone at Spire Motorsports for the opportunity to compete in the five races that I’m allowed to do each season,” Busch said in a statement. “A lot of the employees from KBM transitioned over to Spire, and I’ll be working with [Brian] Pattie and the same group that I had last year, so while it’ll be a little bittersweet not having a KBM decal on the front of the truck and a 51 on the side, I know that I’ll be getting in the best equipment in the series. Once I’m behind the wheel, it’ll look and feel like home and just like always, my only goal will be to add more banners in the shop!”

Busch, 38, is one of the most decorated drivers of all-time, having won two Cup Series championships, an Xfinity Series championship and 229 combined races across the Cup, Xfinity and Truck Series. He is the all-time winningest driver in the Truck Series, having won 64 races in 170 starts.

“We’re very fortunate and thankful to have great partners like Group 1001 who allow us to be creative and put the best talent behind the wheel while we chase a NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series owner’s championship,” Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson said. “Kyle Busch is a generational talent and I’ve been fortunate enough to witness so many of his accomplishments first-hand.

“It means a lot to everyone at Spire Motorsports, including everyone who stayed after the sale, to have Kyle in our truck this season. And, it means a great deal to me personally, for us to make this happen.”

Busch, whose résumé is missing a Daytona 500 victory, finished 12th in the 66th running of “The Great American Race” Monday. He was in the mix often, leading 12 laps.

“We ran up front and led some laps tonight and scored points in both stages,” Busch said after the race. “At the end of the race, we tried to pick off a couple of spots and just got shucked out of line and shuffled to the back. It’s always disappointing when you don’t win, especially at Daytona.”
