Kyle Busch Crew Chief Reveals How Stewart-Haas Racing's Demise Should Help No. 8 in 2025

Kyle Busch had a NASCAR Cup Series season that he'll forever remember and not for the right reason. He'll always reflect back on the 2024 campaign as the year his record streak of at least one win in consecutive seasons ended at 19.

Making it even more painful is knowing how close he came on several occasions, including the second race of the year at Atlanta when he took the checkered flag third in a photo finish behind winner Daniel Suarez and runner-up Ryan Blaney. Or, later in the season when he finished second to Harrison Burton at Daytona and Chase Briscoe at Darlington in back-to-back races.

Busch's crew chief Randall Burnett made his final weekly appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Tuesday, where he recapped the up-and-down season and talked about the latest breaking news at Richard Childress Racing — Briscoe's crew chief at Stewart-Haas Racing, Richard Boswell, would be leading the No. 3 team of Austin Dillon in 2025.

Show guest co-host and 2018 Cup Series-winning crew chief Todd Gordon suggested Boswell could help RCR improve on short tracks based on SHR's success in 2024.

"Well, yeah, absolutely," Burnett agreed. "They ran really well at places like Martinsville. They ran really good at some of the short-track races. So that's already been brought up and talked about of, 'Hey, maybe we need to look at what was working for you at the short tracks and look at what we were doing at the intermediate tracks and hopefully we'll all come up with a good package for each going forward and maybe really further our program.'

"You know, that's the nicest part about having new ideas come in, new people come in, fresh faces, fresh ideas. You can really bounce some things off each other and learn from each other and really try to grow your program. So that's what we're going to be doing here in the next couple months and hopefully come out of Bowman Gray pretty strong and carry that momentum into Daytona."

No. 8 fans can only hope the changes result in improvement, and most importantly, another trip back to Victory Lane and the start of a new winning streak.
