Kyle Busch ran well throughout Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, but threw away positions and valuable points with two laps to go.
After qualifying sixth, Busch ran in the top 10 for the majority of the Wurth 400 and was poised to finish inside the top 15 at the very worst, even with a late-race restart shaking things up with four laps to go.
With two laps to go, however, contact between Busch and John Hunter Nemechek sent Busch into the wall. Busch was none too happy with the contact and, in somewhat vintage Kyle Busch fashion, sent Nemechek spinning into the outside wall in turns 3 and 4.
Nemechek got off the racing surface, which allowed the race to stay green until the checkered flag.
Here’s a look at the last-lap incident…

Kyle Busch clears himself on John Hunter Nemechek and then doors him entering Turn 3 at 180mph…

Busch finished 20th, with Nemechek finishing 21st as the first driver one lap down.
For Busch, who came into Sunday 27th in the Cup Series standings and will leave Texas 26th, his day could've been maximized had he kept his cool.
Those are the kinds of incidents that Busch simply can't have happen as he and the No. 8 team look to turn things around and make the Cup Series postseason for the first time since 2023.
