Kyle Larson scores final Championship 4 berth at Martinsville

Kyle Larson's day at Martinsville Speedway wasn't particularly flashy, but in the end, it didn't need to be.

A fifth-place finish for the 2021 Cup Series champion was all he needed to score the final spot in the Championship 4 over Christopher Bell and put two Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolets in a position to win a title.

With his HMS teammate in William Byron winning, Larson, who entered Sunday one point behind Bell in the standings, needed to rack up more points than Bell to advance. He did just that.

Larson finished fifth while Bell finished seventh, and when the checkered flag flew, Larson was seven points to the good on his championship rival.

For the third time in five years with Hendrick Motorsports, Larson had advanced to the championship race at Phoenix.

"We had good enough track position all day," Larson told NBC Sports. "We were kind of out of the mess. My pit crew was on it all night. What a performance by William (Byron). That's awesome."

Larson, a three-time winner in 2025, will have the chance to win a second championship next weekend at Phoenix Raceway, the site of his first championship in 2021.
