This year's Fast Friday practice for the Indy 500 may have been a bit too fast for NASCAR driver Kyle Larson.
Larson lost control of his Arrow McLaren and hit the wall during his final practice session this Friday. It's the second time that he has crashed his car during his preparation for the Indy 500. Luckily for him and his team, the car only sustained minor damage.
After about an hour of repairs, Larson's vehicle was ready to go. That allowed him to get a few more laps in before calling it a day.
While at the infield care center on Friday, the talented Cup Series driver spoke to the media. He was asked if he remains confident heading into qualifying.
"Yeah, I think so," Larson replied. "I think so."
Larson then explained why he's feeling confident heading into the weekend.
The main reason Larson isn't discouraged by Friday's crash is because the conditions on the track should be better.
"I think the conditions will be better tomorrow. I’m sure the track is actually cooling down a lot now, similar to what tomorrow will be. Bob, you see me crash all the time. So, I don’t think it usually affects me. But yeah, we’ll see," Larson told Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, via On3. "Like, today, I think when you turn the boost up for your speed lap, usually it’s like, 'Oh my gosh,' you’re flying. That didn’t feel like as crazy as like the open test felt like when I turned it up for the first time. So, I’m happy the speed didn’t scare me or anything like that. I think, as long as the car is okay, I think we’ll be fine."
All eyes will be on Larson this weekend as he tries to qualify for the May 25 race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
