Layne Riggs makes bold prediction about his NASCAR career after runner-up finish at Kansas

What a finish at Kansas in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Layne Riggs went face-to-face with another Cup Series driver. Riggs has now battled Kyle Larson and Carson Hocevar, and while he has come up short both times, he has shown incredible talent and tenacity.

Layne Riggs isn’t scared of anybody. When he is on the race track, I think he believes that he can keep up with anyone who might be racing with him. Cup Series, Xfinity Series, Truck Series – it doesn’t matter where the driver calls home, Riggs is going to give them all they can handle.

You have to admire his toughness and his skill. Yes, he got into Carson Hocevar on the last lap while trying to make the pass for the win, but that’s just good stock car racing, folks! Both drivers made it to the finish, and no one lost their position.

After the race, Layne Riggs was asked about the finish. He appeared to still be wired off the adrenaline of it all. Riggs also made quite a prediction for himself.

“Man, I gave it my all. We were really down bad with the track position there,” Riggs told Josh Sims. “About midway through the third stage, when we were about to take the lead and we did the green flag pit stop, that really hurt us. Had to come from 16th all the way into that green flag run and get all the way back to him. But yeah, last lap I got to him, got into him a little bit, we both hit the wall.

“He won the race, and you know, I think he was mad at me. I think he flipped me off all the way down the frontstretch coming to the checkered, but how can you be mad when you win the race, right? But it’s all good. It’s great to race with them Cup guys, and I think that just proves that I’m going to be there one day.”

Layne Riggs has talent. His father, Scott Riggs, made sure to bring him up through the grassroots the right way. So now, when Layne is racing Cup talent, he sees it as another driver. Besides, he rips the wall like a Cup driver already. That’s how he made up so much ground on Hocevar to begin with.

For NASCAR fans wanting an old-school racer to root for, Layne is your guy. He sounds the part, and he races the part. No, he isn’t going out there and trying to wreck others. What he is doing is showing off his talents to the world.

Front Row Motorsports has a good one in Layne Riggs. Now they have to keep him. If Front Row isn’t careful, another organization will happily come along and take Riggs off their hands. For now, he remains a top Truck Series talent.
