Following yesterday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at COTA, Martin Truex Jr. gave Kyle Busch some help to get back around to pit road after the finish. The former Joe Gibbs Racing teammates still have a ton of respect for each other.

There were a handful of drivers who ran out of fuel after the race. Drivers crossed the finish line and then had to make the trip one more time back around to get into the pits. Two veterans of the sport having a little moment together after the race.

Given how upset Kyle Busch was at Christopher Bell, it’s nice to see he has good relations with his other former JGR teammates. Busch ended up finishing P9 in the end, which was a really good finish considering what happened to him on track with 27 laps to go.

Rowdy didn’t have the fuel to get back to pit road, and MTJ noticed. A few pushes here and there and no one had to get a tow.

Martin Truex Jr. had a good race. He picked up plenty of points for stage finishes and also his P10 finish at the end. Truex is quietly showing the same consistency he had a year ago. Now, we just wait for him to win a race or two. He will be in contention to repeat as regular season champion. Truex leads the points standings after COTA.

Kyle Busch back in the top-10 but frustrated after race

COTA was up and down for Kyle Busch. This is a road course that he has performed well at in the past. He was runner-up in 2023. In the race on Sunday, Busch was vying for a top-5 spot, something he desperately needed after a rough string of races.

On Lap 41, Busch got spun out at Turn 1 by Christopher Bell. Bell was on a warpath to catch up to the leaders on his alternative pit strategy. Busch swung wide on the turn to get an angle going to the straight stretch and Bell got under him on the regular race line.

That’s when the 20 sent the 8 car spinning. It was a moment that took Busch out of a top-5 spot and made the end of his race that much more difficult.

After the race, Kyle Busch got in Bell’s face and let him know about it. Busch was furious at his former teammate and his former Kyle Busch Motorsports driver. It doesn’t appear that he will let it die in Texas, either. So, keep an eye on these two cars moving forward to see what Busch may or may not do in retaliation.
