NASCAR broadcast moved to FOX after IndyCar suffers major outage during Thermal Grand Prix

“Our INDYCAR production truck has an electrical issue. We are working to get it fixed as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we have NASCAR bonus coverage on FOX and FS1 until the INDYCAR truck is back online,” IndyCar said in a statement.

Power has since been restored at Thermal Club and both races are back on their assigned channels. But for a chunk of the race, IndyCar fans were unable to see the action at Thermal Club. The open-wheel series can’t be thrilled with those unfortunate circumstances, especially in just the second race of its new media rights deal with FOX.

NASCAR at Homestead takes over for IndyCar on FOX

NASCAR will take the added exposure at one of its best racetracks in Homestead. The 1.5-mile track routinely produces good racing, and the same holds true for Sunday’s race. Thus far, it’s been the Ryan Blaney show.

Blaney, who started sixth, took the lead from Alex Bowman on Lap 9 and has led 124 laps. But as we saw with Kyle Larson in Sunday’s Xfinity Series race, leading the majority of the race means nothing. Blaney will have to put himself in the best position to finish it off in Stage 3.

Others such as Larson and Denny Hamlin are getting better as the race goes on. The latter took the Stage 2 victory.
