NASCAR Driver Admits He Had Unfortunate Bathroom Accident In Daytona

Someone should tell Corey LaJoie that he's not required to share everything with fans.

LaJoie led late in Sunday's Daytona 500, but a late multi-car wreck sabotaged his chances of winning. The 33-year-old instead settled for 22nd place.

That wasn't the only fortunate development from LaJoie's day at Daytona. At the end of his Stacking Pennies podcast, LaJoie revealed that he had a stomach bug.

"During the rain delay, I asked the guys to get me a plastic bag because I thought I was going to throw up in the car," LaJoie said (h/t On3). "And if they would have found me a bag, I would have just pulled the trigger during the rain delay and bag it up and keep it moving. They didn't, so I just had to just hold it in."

LaJoie held up through the race without incident and felt OK enough to talk to media members afterward. Realizing that he "really got to pee," LaJoie went to the bathroom where, well, let's just allow him to explain.

"So there's crew guys in there. I go to the urinal, do my business," he recalled. "I tried to let one squeak out. I completely s*** my pants. I completely forgot that I had a stomach bug, and there was no cushion. There was no margin for error."

Making matters worse, a bystander was nearby to hear LaJoie curse after the mishap took place.

"The guy looked at me with concern, so I waddle into the damn handicap stall ... I got my damn undershirt on," LaJoie said. "I'm trying to get my cool shirt off, and I'm butt-naked in the stall. I get all cleaned up, and I walk back to the bus. I get straight in the shower, and that was good."

At least it didn't happen inside his Ford car during the Great American Race.

"You'd figure if Ricky Stenhouse is pushing you, that'd be the time you'd s*** your pants, LaJoie said. "No, it was not. I waited until the end."

LaJoie realized too late that revealing the embarrassing anecdote will probably haunt him "forever."
