The greatest day of the year for motorsports fans and bettors concludes with Sunday's NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 (6 p.m. ET, FOX) at Charlotte Motor Speedway today.
Live NASCAR odds for the Coca-Cola 600 list Kyle Larson as tonight's favorite at +500, ahead of Denny Hamlin (+700), Martin Truex Jr. (+750), William Byron (+800) and Ty Gibbs (+800), according to BetMGM.
At this point I have yet to make a move on the NASCAR outright market, though I have one top-10 prop I'm grabbing early.
*Odds as of Sunday morning
Michael McDowell isn't a driver we tend to think about at 1.5-mile tracks, though his Front Row Motorsports team has been showing more and more speed on intermediates like Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In fact, we only have to go back three weeks to Kansas Speedway, another 1.5-mile track, where McDowell piloted his No. 34 Ford to a 10th-place finish.
And while it's not a perfect comp, McDowell scored another top 10 at Darlington two weeks ago.
To be fair, Darlington and Charlotte aren't all that similar, but the tire combination for the two races is the same, so it doesn't exactly hurt McDowell either.
It's important to note that this car was toward the bottom of the speed charts in practice, but I'm putting more emphasis on McDowell's recent speed, instead.
Besides, McDowell did qualify ninth for the Coca-Cola 600, so the car does have speed and could very easily be faster in race trim than what he showed in practice.
And finally, McDowell's top-10 finish odds do vary, so I'm locking him in at Fanatics, which is offering a very generous +550 price tag as of the time of writing.
The bet: Michael McDowell (+550) for a Top-10 Finish
