NASCAR Paint Schemes of the Week: Wurth 400 at Dover Motor Speedway
Mandatory Credit: Matthew OHaren-USA TODAY Sports

The Wurth 400 at Dover Motor Speedway is right around the corner. This week a few teams decided to bring out their best NASCAR paint schemes. We even have the title sponsor represented among top designs fo the week.

Dover Motor Speedway, home of the Monster Mile. It is a track that drivers have a lot of fun racing on, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t challenging. The high banks of the corners, the slick concrete in the spring heat – it all makes it difficult to get around Dover in one piece.

As NASCAR hits this point in the season, hopefully, we get some exciting racing. There has been too much talk about good and bad racing, the details of how to improve it. Let’s just get on with it and check out these paint schemes ahead of the Wurth 400.

Denny Hamlin No. 11 Mavis Tire Toyota

Mavis Tire has been stepping up the game with Denny Hamlin. Not only with a regional TV commercial but also with a brand-new paint scheme.

We have seen one Mavis scheme this season as well as Brakes Plus and others owned by Mavis. Now we have another design completely, and I like it. Really solid. 7.5/10.

Ryan Blaney No. 12 Wurth Ford

The Wurth 400 will be fit with its own car, courtesy of Ryan Blaney and Team Penske. Blaney has had an up-and-down season and hasn’t been able to push through to the finish line. It feels like it’s coming, though.

Blaney will be one to watch at Dover. Last year Blaney had a career-best performance, qualifying P3 and finishing P3. Red black and white is a great look on this 12 car. 8/10.

Bubba Wallace No. 23 Xfinity/U.S. Air Force Toyota

The best paint scheme of the week. Bubba Wallace is debuting this Flying Tigers scheme, which looks a lot like his old Warthog scheme from his Petty GMS days.

The rivets on the side, the shiny teeth on the front – this scheme has it all. Fit with the names of four Vietnam War veterans, Wallace and 23XI Racing are kicking off Military Appreciation Month the right way. 9.5/10.

Michael McDowell No. 34 ThePeteStore.com Ford

Are you or someone you know in the market for a Peterbilt? Well do I have the perfect paint scheme for you from Michael McDowell.

This red-and-white scheme is fun, it’s different. I love that Front Row has been able to pull in new sponsors and debut these new schemes. Not the most exciting, but a clean car. 7.5/10.

Todd Gilliland No. 38 A&W All-American Food Ford

A Gilliland in an A&W paint scheme? I have to put it on the list! Todd Gilliland is going into the Wurth 400 with a tasty and refreshing design.

What is there not to like about the brown and orange design? It is pleasing to look at, flows well from front to back and it is one of the better looking designs with the number pushed forward. 8/10.

Corey Heim No. 43 Dollar Tree/Petty 75th Toyota

How about this for a debut paint scheme? Has anyone had a cooler design in their first Cup Series race than Corey Heim will have in the Wurth 400?

Erik Jones is out this week with a spinal fracture. It will be interesting to see how long he is out of the car for. Until he returns, it’s Heim Time! 9/10.

Tyler Reddick No. 45 McDonald’s Toyota

This might be the best McDonald’s scheme in the last two years. I love the way that it looks, ketchup dripping from the top, the golden arches peeking from below. It’s fun.

McDonald’s is a great NASCAR partner and great partner of 23XI Racing. After last year’s duds, I like this new Reddick scheme. 8.5/10.

Jimmie Johnson No. 84 Family Dollar/Dollar Tree Toyota

I have been shocked with how much I enjoy the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar cars. Jimmie Johnson is taking his turn with both brands on the car. Dover is a special place for Johnson.

Let’s just hope that we can all see Jimmie have a good run. He has had fits getting adapted to this Next Gen car. At least he has a great-looking car to race this week. 8/10.
