Last weekend's AdventHealth 400 didn't go according to plan for Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing, that's for sure.
Wallace was unable to finish last Sunday's race at Kansas Speedway due to a wreck. It was a disappointing result considering he was also unable to complete the Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway on May 4.
If Wallace's situation wasn't bad enough for 23XI Racing, the team had to settle for a 17th place finish for Tyler Reddick. The former Cup Series regular season champion has really struggled to recapture his magic from 2024.
Reddick is currently 10th in the Cup Series standings, but he doesn't have a single win this season. It's also worth noting that Wallace doesn't have a win this year.
This season has been so underwhelming for Reddick that he got called out by Jeff Gluck of The Athletic.
"23XI, they’re weird, man. They’ve fallen off," Gluck said, via On3. "What’s up with that? I don’t get that at all. Reddick might’ve had the fastest car at Texas, he just never got the track position. But then he told me at Texas, 'Oh yeah, I feel like what happens, the speed we’ll have at Texas will translate to Kansas, even though they’re different tracks,' and then they just didn’t really show anything."
Reddick hasn't recorded a top-10 finish since the Goodyear 400 on April 6. That's not going to cut it for a Cup Series driver of his caliber.
Maybe, just maybe, Gluck's comments will spark a turnaround for Reddick. He'll try to get his season back on track starting on May 25 with the Coca-Cola 600.
