NASCAR team announces it will expand, run three Cup Series cars in 2025

A day after Stewart-Haas Racing announced its closure at the end of the 2024 season, one of its charters has likely found a new home.

Front Row Motorsports will officially expand to a three-car Cup Series operation in 2025, adding a third charter that is likely one that used to be owned by Stewart-Haas Racing. With SHR closing down, one of their fellow Ford teams has seemingly jumped on the opportunity for expansion.

No official driver's lineup for 2025 has been set, but Todd Gilliland, who would enter his fourth season in the Cup Series in 2025, is expected to return. 2021 Daytona 500 champion Michael McDowell has signed with Spire Motorsports for 2025, so for the moment, at least two of Front Row's vacant seats remain complete mysteries.

The move marks a continued period of growth for a team that was once relegated to the back of the pack. With several Cup Series wins now under their belts, including wins in the Daytona 500 and at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, expanding to three full-time Cup Series entries seems like a reasonable next step for Front Row.

Front Row began a new technical alliance with Team Penske at the start of the 2024 season, and while the results haven't always been there this season, both McDowell and Gilliland have each put together a few nice runs, especially at the superspeedways of Daytona, Atlanta and Talladega.

While the team looks to get both drivers into victory lane and the playoffs in 2024, it seems the distant future of the organization is something for fans to look forward to.

Front Row Motorsports' 2025 driver lineup will be announced at a later date.
