NASCAR Truck Series Dealing With Terrifying Weather

The NASCAR Truck Series is set to resume this Friday at Texas Motor Speedway, but there's no guarantee the race will be completed tonight.

There's currently a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Texas this Friday that will linger until 8 p.m. CT. Not only is there a chance for heavy rain, there could be damaging winds and baseball-sized hail.

Obviously, that's not ideal for NASCAR considering it wants to complete its Truck Series race over before the Xfinity Series takes over on Saturday.

"NASCAR events are scheduled to start tonight at Texas Motor Speedway with the Truck Series," reporter Alan Scaia said. "Some campers say they go to a lot of tracks, but weather at TMS 'can get pretty crazy. It’s really erratic.' They say they’ve seen races here in storms, triple-digit heat and freezing cold."

Although the SpeedyCash.com 250 won't begin until 7 p.m. CT, it didn't take long for Mother Nature to impact the Truck Series' plans.

Earlier this Friday, the Truck Series canceled its practice and qualifying due to weather.

Tyler Ankrum will lead the field at Texas Motor Speedway this Friday since he won the previous Truck Series race at Rockingham Speedway. Daniel Hemric will be right outside of him when tonight's race begins.

The top-10 for Friday's starting grid consists of Jake Garcia, Corey Heim, Grant Enfinger, Kaden Honeycutt, Rajan Caruth, Layne Riggs, Chandler Smith and Jack Wood.

Heading into this Friday's race, Heim is at the top of the Truck Series standings. We'll see if he can hold onto that lead when it's all said and done.

This Friday's race at Texas Motor Speedway will be televised on FS1.
