Noah Gragson ready to ‘put on a show’ at Phoenix after P7 qualifying effort

Today Noah Gragson will start a season-high P7 after a stellar qualifying effort at Phoenix. The NASCAR Cup Series sophomore is ready for action. Could Gragson be onto something early this season?

Already, Gragson has two top-10 finishes. P6 last week at Las Vegas is the second-best finish ever in the Cup Series for Gragson. It is by far his best performance on a non-drafting track. So, it makes sense why he has a little bit of confidence right now.

Noah Gragson recorded a short video message for fans. Stewart-Haas Racing won this race two years ago with Chase Briscoe, who starts behind Gragson today. Gragson wants to “put on a show” for fans.

“Felt like we had a pretty good ServPro Ford Mustang Dark Horse,” Gragson said in the video. “It felt great out there way better than our practice speed yesterday I was a little concerned about it. To be able to come home in the top-10 in qualifying, we qualified 7th, highest-running Ford was really good. Really proud of everybody at Stewart-Haas especially everybody on the ServPro team, Drew Blickensderfer and the rest of the guys they’ve been working their guts out and we’ve made a lot of improvements from yesterday.

“So, got a top-10 starting position going to be really good on the long run tomorrow I hope. Based off practice yesterday, we were really happy with the long run and how the car faded throughout a tire cycle run, it felt really good. Appreciate all of your guys’ support and we’re going to put on a show at Phoenix, baby!”

Both Noah Gragson and Stewart-Haas Racing need to keep up the momentum. Each needs to have a good 2024 for various reasons.

Noah Gragson, SHR need to keep momentum going

Last season was a throwaway not just for Noah Gragson but for SHR as well. While they weren’t together in 2023, both the driver and organization had similar seasons. Bad. So far this season, things have been promising, at least.

Gragson finished P9 at Daytona. That’s just a superspeedway though. He’s a skilled drafting racer but he’s not going to get the respect he likely deserves for that finish because it was at Daytona. Now, his Las Vegas race was different.

Gragson finished P6 at his hometown race. He did it by racing hard, consistently, and having a fast car most importantly. If SHR can keep delivering fast Fords, then Gragson and his teammates are going to have opportunities to succeed.

Last season, SHR didn’t have the speed to even get Kevin Harvick to victory lane last season. So far, they’ve been able to get Noah Gragson close to the top-5. Let’s see what Gragson and Briscoe have in store for this Cup Series field, they might shock a few people.
