The fans at EchoPark Speedway have been asked to leave the grandstands about two hours before NASCAR action at Atlanta. Lightning and weather have caused multiple delays this weekend for the Cup and Xfinity Series.
It appears that lightning is forcing EchoPark Speedway to vacate the stands a couple of hours before tonight’s green flag. Hopefully, the weather comes and goes quickly.
For now, NASCAR fans at the Atlanta track have been asked to leave their seats. We will provide further updates as the weather develops tonight for the Quaker State 400.

A night race on the banks of EchoPark Speedway. This track is going to give us an electric night under the lights. Atlanta has produced some very exciting races. If we can avoid a deflating caution flag on the last lap, then we should be in for another epic finish.
The main question is, will the weather hold up? Can Mother Nature give the Cup Series enough time between lightning strikes in the area to actually finish 400 miles of racing? The Xfinity Series had a lengthy delay on Friday night due to lightning. Let’s hope that we avoid all of that tonight.
We know the action on the track will be unpredictable. The weather is going to be unpredictable tonight. Should be a good show tonight on TNT.
Pre-race festivities are underwya at EchoPark Speedway. Everyone has their eyes on the skies and the weather radar. No one wants this NASCAR race in Atlanta to get called off by bad weather again. That happened just a couple of years ago as William Byron picked up the win.
This weekend hasn’t been hindered by rain. It has been interupted with lightning strikes, though. Once they get within that 30 mile range, that is it, the track has to evacuate the stands and wait half an hour. The clock resets with each new strike.
NASCAR in Atlanta has given us a lot of great moments in the last few years. I’m sure that we will get another chapter in the storybook that has been this track since reconfiguration.
