Rajah Caruth wins thrilling Truck Series race from the pole at Las Vegas for first career victory

In what was one of the best Craftsman Truck Series races you will ever see, Rajah Caruth took the win for his first career victory. Caruth doubled up with his first NASCAR pole award and win today at Las Vegas.

For how awful the Truck Series race at Daytona was, this race was a breath of fresh air. When these trucks get on the right track, with a couple of Cup Series talents in the field in Christopher Bell and Kyle Busch, they can put on a real show.

Rajah Caruth put on one hell of a show. He battled door-to-door with Busch at times. He executed. Most importantly, he crossed the finish line in first. Caruth becomes the first Black driver to win a Truck Series race since Bubba Wallace in 2017 at Michigan.

Rajah Caruth leads the field to green

With Rajah Caruth on the pole, he did his best to hold that lead. However, between Kyle Busch and Ty Majeski, he had his work cut out for him. Caruth put up a great drive, but it was the veteran Busch who led this race early.

Eventually, Majeski would take the lead and Caruth would move up to second. Busch started to deal with tire issues and needed an adjustment for tightness in his truck. Majeski went on to win the first stage but his pit stop during the break would be detrimental.

Stage 2 – Ty Majeski wins again

It was more or less the same story in the second stage. However, this time, Rajah Caruth led a ton of laps. He was battling with Busch, running door to door after restarting in the lead off the stage break.

If you weren’t watching tonight you missed what might end up being the best race in the Truck Series this season. Between Caruth, Majeski, Corey Heim, Busch, and others – it was fantastic racing from top to bottom.

Minimal cautions, lots of green flag runs. In Stage 2, Majeski was just able to win the long-run. His truck was the fastest and that proved more true with each green flag lap they ran. Caruth and Heim tried their best, but Majeski went on to win Stage 2 as well.

Caruth brings it home in Las Vegas

The money pit stops were money. At least, for Rajah Caruth they were. Majeski, Busch, Nick Sanchez, and Layne Riggs all faced penalties on pit road. That opened the door for Caruth to take the lead and drive this thing to a checkered flag.

Spire Motorsports knew what they were doing, HendrickCars knew what they were doing, and tonight Caruth knew what he was doing. A lot of things had to come together for this moment to happen, but now everyone involved can look back and be happy with their decisions.
