When it comes to the NASCAR Cup Series, it's no secret that Richard Childress Racing has been struggling.
As of this week, Austin Dillon is 28th in the Cup Series standings. Kyle Busch, meanwhile, is in 17th thanks to a few top-10 finishes. Obviously, that's not good enough for Richard Childress Racing. The team's vice president of competition made that very clear this week.
"We just need to take that next jump and there’s a difference between running fifth and winning," Keith Rodden said, via On3. "We need to have Kyle and Austin in the top five, learning what they need to contend for wins and make those adjustments and get our cars there. The very beginning of the season, we had potential to win races, and we need to continue working on our notes that we’ve taken from last year and so far this year and keep working on our cars and get better."
Richard Childress Racing won't just wait for Busch and Dillon to turn their seasons around. Earlier this Friday, the team announced that its Xfinity Series standout will compete at Bristol Motor Speedway on April 13.
Jesse Love will operate the No. 33 C4 Ultimate Energy Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. The former ARCA Menards Series champion is currently off to a great start in the Xfinity Series this year. He kicked off the 2025 season with a victory at Daytona.
As you'd expect, Love is excited to show what he can do in the Cup Series.
"Racing in the Cup Series has always been my main goal and dream," Love said. "Everything that I have done up to this point in my career has been building to this moment. To make my Cup Series debut at this age is very special, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to make it with RCR. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms over the last year and the organization feels like family."
Maybe, just maybe, Love will give Richard Childress Racing the shot in the arm that it's looking for.
