For months NASCAR fans have heard about the lawsuit between 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports suing the sanctioning body over antitrust claims. Last week, that lawsuit got unexpected company when it was revealed Legacy Motor Club was suing Rick Ware Racing over a charter it had purchased.

According to court records, Legacy claims the two teams had reached an agreement over the sale of a Cup charter earlier this year to add a third full-time team in 2026

Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic reported RWR officials believed the agreement was for the sale to be completed for the 2027 season rather than 2026 and the reason the single-car team is hedging on the agreement.

On Tuesday, Bianchi appeared on the Dale Jr. Download and talked to Earnhardt about the case and made a surprising revelation.

“I do have a piece of information for you that I think you're gonna find interesting,” Bianchi teased. “I've talked to a lot of people involved in this. Do you know how much Legacy paid Rick Ware for the charter?”

“$50 million,” Earnhardt suggested.

“Forty-five is what I was told,” the reporter responded. "$45 million, which would be a new high in this sport. The previous high was Spire Motorsports paying $40 million to BJ McLeod a few years ago.

"And we saw last year with Gene Haas when he was selling his charters was a fire sale. He basically just wanted to get rid of him. That number went down to the mid twenties.”

Earnhardt and Bianchi agreed the $45-million mark is a new high and a new floor for charters that will only increase in value in the future — provided they're still around.
