Ryan Preece was the fastest man in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Saturday afternoon, but he didn't have much competition among the NASCAR Cup Series field.
In the final practice session before Sunday's Daytona 500 (1:30 p.m. ET, FOX, MRN, SiriusXM NASCA Radio), Preece was the fastest of only 18 drivers who took to the 2.5-mile superspeedway.
Preece ran a fastest lap of 46.676 seconds on Saturday afternoon.
Preece's RFK teammates in Chris Buescher and Brad Keselowski followed him in second and third, with the Penske duo of Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano rounding out the top-five. Ross Chastain, Chase Elliott, AJ Allmendinger, B.J. McLeod and Cody Ware completed the top 10.
Fords made up the top five, with Chevrolet taking the other spots in the top 10. The only Toyota to make a lap was Jimmie Johnson's.
Other notable practice results include two-time defending 500 winner William Byron in 13th, 2022 500 winner Austin Cindric in 15th, Alex Bowman in 16th, Casey Mears in 17th and two-time 500 winner and NASCAR Hall of Famer Johnson in 18th.
Twenty-three cars did not make a lap during the session.
The 68th running of the Daytona 500 will begin shortly after 1:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, with coverage on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
