What Will the Weather Be Like on Sunday?

Fans can expect a sunny Kansas Sunday with a high of 87 degrees. Light and variable winds will caress the race track, with a 6% chance of rain. The temperature is predicted to be 85 degrees at the time of the start of the race, with no chance of rainfall.

The Cup Series garage will be open from noon to 9:30 p.m. ET. The 267-lap race will begin at 3 p.m. exactly. Stage 1 will conclude at Lap 80 and Stage 2 will conclude at Lap 165. The race can be followed on USA, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

What Makes the Race Important

The race is the second of the Cup Series playoffs' Round of 12. This makes it a no nonsense event for every playoff driver. It also marks the field's return to an intermediate track after 17 races. The last race on a 1.5-mile track was the Coca-Cola 600 that Trackhouse Racing driver, Ross Chastain, incredulously won.

The race will feature a new right side tire that is supposed to help teams increase their strategy options. Following Kansas, the final intermediate venue of the year, Las Vegas, will also feature these tires. Kansas last hosted the Cup Series back in May. Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson won that race, leading 221 of 267 laps.
